Michael Maisey
Founder & Prison Outreach
Michael's story is one of remarkable transformation and resilience. Having maintained sobriety for sixteen years since his release from prison in 2001, he has dedicated himself to a journey of self-development, striving to overcome the wounds from his challenging childhood. Starting as a child from an underprivileged background with no formal qualifications, Michael defied the odds by establishing an award-winning business in London. This achievement not only reflects his personal growth but also showcases his determination to break free from the constraints of his past. Building on his successes, Michael went on to found the CIP Project in Devon, where he generously shares the transformative tools he discovered on his own journey. His emphasis on 100% accountability, giving back, and empowering individuals from all walks of life underscores his commitment to creating positive change in the lives of others. In addition to his impactful work with the CIP Project, Michael is a best-selling author, with "Young Offender" offering insights into his journey and lessons learned. As a TEDx speaker, he further extends his reach, inspiring audiences with his story of triumph over adversity. Michael's life is a testament to the power of personal growth, accountability, and the potential for positive change. His multifaceted contributions as an entrepreneur, founder, author, and speaker exemplify a dedication to not only improving his own life but also uplifting and transforming the lives of those around him.
Sarah Aggett
Head of Events
Sarah's journey with CIP began in 2021, and she quickly became an integral part of the organization. Her commitment and growth within the program are evident, as she successfully completed the four archetype workshops in 2023 and finalized her leadership training in the same year. In her role as a leader, Sarah takes charge of the catering team, ensuring that participants are provided with nourishing and enjoyable meals during workshops. Additionally, she extends her support to many women within the project, contributing to a sense of community and empowerment. Beyond her involvement with CIP, Sarah wears multiple hats. She is a dedicated mother to two children, showcasing her commitment to family. In her professional life, she works for the Joe Strummer Foundation, further highlighting her engagement in meaningful and impactful work beyond the CIP community. Sarah's story exemplifies a holistic approach to personal and professional development, community engagement, and family life. Her contributions within CIP and her work with the Joe Strummer Foundation showcase a commitment to making a positive impact both within and beyond the organization.
Mark Harris
Mark was introduced to CIP in 2022. After tragically losing his wife suddenly in 2017, Mark was left to bring up his two young children as a single parent, whilst also managing and processing his own grief and adapting to his new life circumstances. Mark found the CIP community to be incredibly supportive, and from his first CIP event he decided he would do whatever he could to help others discover and access the same help and support he had received. Mark went on to complete the four Archetype workshops, the Leadership & Facilitation training, and is now part of the core team, managing the CIP back-office and IT administration activities. Mark lives with his partner and their blended family in Hampshire, and enjoys regular cold water dips, paddle boarding and mountain biking.
Nick Berry
Nick joined CIP in 2023 and successfully completed all initiation workshops and leadership training. Inspired by his transformative journey, he decided to contribute further by joining the CIP facilitation team, supporting others on their personal healing journeys. Outside of CIP, Nick has maintained sobriety for many years and plays a crucial role in running meetings in Brixton Prison. His efforts focus on helping inmates achieve sobriety through the 12-step program of recovery. Nick's commitment extends beyond his own healing, showcasing a dedication to supporting others in their recovery and well-being.
Facilitation Team
Steve Brown
Steve, affectionately known as "Uncle Steve," became a part of CIP in 2023, navigating his struggles with addiction. Achieving permanent sobriety, he now dedicates himself to helping others facing similar challenges. Outside of CIP, Steve is a loving father and manages his own business, showcasing a commitment to personal growth and a well-rounded life beyond addiction.
Ryan Mears
Ryan joined us in early 2023 and has successfully completed all our initiation workshops and leadership training. He played a crucial role in supporting our rites of passage event for young people, leveraging his lived experience of recovery from addiction to assist fellow young individuals in the project. Additionally, Ryan brings his passion for boxing to support our physical pillar and ritual combat processes during workshops. Outside of CIP, he is a loving father to one daughter and works in the construction industry. Ryan's dedication extends beyond the project, reflecting a commitment to family, personal growth, and professional endeavors.
Ben Furner
Ben joined CIP in 2023, completing the 4 archetypes initiation and leadership training. He played a key role in creating and supporting the rites of passage event for young people, drawing on his own experiences as a young adult in today's society. Ben now utilizes his learned skills to support other young individuals. Beyond CIP, Ben is an aspiring DJ and music producer. Notably, he has released his own song since joining the CIP community, showcasing his passion and talent in the music industry.
Sarah Vaughan-Griffiths
Sarah joined The CIP Project in May 2021 during the first women's retreats, seeking healing after enduring childhood trauma and domestic violence. In subsequent relationships with an addict dealing with PTSD, she felt lost. Her journey with CIP led to Level 1 & 2 in Reiki Healing, completion of leadership training in 2022, and the four archetypes initiation in 2023. Now, she leads the online Sister Circle support group for women. Outside CIP, Sarah works in a Devon school, is a mother of two, and is married to Dave, a fellow CIP supporter. Her story reflects resilience, personal growth, and a commitment to helping others.
Louis Ridding
Louis joined CIP shortly after his release from prison in early 2023. He completed the four archetypes and leadership training later that year. Louis currently plays a crucial role in running our prison workshops and outreach service, leveraging his lived experience to guide others away from the pitfalls he encountered. Outside of CIP, Louis is employed in the construction industry and is actively working towards becoming a qualified tradesmen, demonstrating his commitment to personal and professional growth beyond his involvement with the organization.
Alan O'Sullivan
Alan, known as Sully among his peers at CIP, joined in 2022 after a referral from his probation officer. After nearly a decade in prison and a tumultuous childhood, he found CIP upon his release. Sully has completed all workshops and leadership training, and now actively supports our prison workshops and outreach team, using his lived experience to aid those still trapped in the criminal justice system. Beyond CIP, Sully works in construction and is a caring uncle to his nieces and nephews. His story reflects resilience, personal growth, and a commitment to helping others navigate the challenges of the criminal justice system.
Ben Holden
In 2022, Ben Holden embarked on a transformative journey with the CIP (Community Integration Project), intertwining his personal exploration with extensive training in ancient shamanic and Druidic Celtic culture. Completing the Rites of Passage With a commitment to personal growth and community well-being, Ben successfully completed the full one-year rites of passage with the CIP in 2023. This immersive experience not only deepened his understanding of himself but also equipped him with valuable tools to support others. Bridging Ancient Wisdom and Modern Support Now, in 2024, Ben brings together the rich tapestry of his training and experiences to offer unique and meaningful support to our community. His expertise in ancient shamanic and Druidic Celtic culture, combined with the insights gained through the CIP, creates a holistic approach to community well-being. Empowering Others Through Knowledge Ben's journey exemplifies the power of personal growth and the transformative impact it can have on both individuals and communities. His dedication to learning and self-discovery is an inspiration to us all, as he continues to contribute to the well-being of our community. Beyond CIP, Michael is a dedicated father and works as a chef, showcasing his commitment to both personal growth and his professional endeavors. His story exemplifies resilience and a holistic approach to recovery and life beyond addiction.
Stefan Monz
Stefan, who joined CIP in 2022 and completed the four initiation workshops and leadership training in 2023, is a dedicated husband and father outside of the organization. Managing his own personal training and wellness company, he focuses on helping individuals improve their physical health, demonstrating a commitment to personal development and the well-being of others. Within the CIP team, Stefan is a valued member, offering guidance on nutrition in the kitchen and leading various aspects of the physical pillar. His multifaceted contributions highlight his dedication to fostering holistic well-being within the community.
Chris Morton
Chris's journey with CIP began in 2022 during a challenging period of addiction. Since joining, he has successfully embraced sobriety and now channels his experiences to support others within the CIP community. In 2023, Chris achieved the completion of the four archetypes and leadership training, actively contributing to our rites of passage event for young people. His dedication extended to involving his daughter in this significant experience. Beyond CIP, Chris is not only a loving father but also a devoted husband, showcasing a well-rounded and supportive family life. His story exemplifies personal growth, resilience, and a commitment to both self-improvement and the well-being of others.
Kerrie Price
In 2021, Kerrie became a participant in the CIP, initially attending a women's retreat. Since then, she has successfully undertaken and completed our comprehensive program. In 2023, Kerrie completed her leadership training, leveraging her firsthand experience of overcoming addiction to positively impact and support others in their journey toward recovery.
